An ongoing project set up to promote, market and distribute my current solo
project as well as to help local artists and entertainers to record their music
and to have the opportunity for advancement in the entertainment industry.
Instead of signing bands to the label, I offer partnerships with the label and
agree to provide assistance by obtaining financing and assisting with
manufacturing, promotion, and distribution as well as offering advice and
counsel for the artists in relation to their entertainment careers. Designed and
developed websites, which included posting all HTML, graphic files, sound files,
and meta-tags for our very limited roster and for my solo project. I do not plan
to pursue this further as a career move but more for the sake of sharing my
experience with local artists and to help them out in any way that I can as well
as testing the waters in regards to my solo projects.
Attorney, Founder & Senior/Managing Partner
Steve Moore & Associates, Attorneys at Law
30 Music Square West, Nashville, TN 1991-2001
Managed and directed this law firm that practiced with a focus on Entertainment
law, Intellectual Property and General Practice. Extensive experience in
litigation, contract drafting & negotiation, collections (both intrastate and
interstate), as well as many other facets of the law. Represented numerous
independent record companies, publishing companies, artists, bands, songwriters,
etc. Attended MIDEM the International Music Festival, in Cannes, France each
year from 1991-1996 (Conversational in French and some Spanish). Attended SXSW
several times since 1991, as well as many other music and business conferences
throughout North America, the Caribbean, and Central America. Worked in most
major markets worldwide. Moderated and/or assisted on several forums for the
Nashville Entertainment Bar.
Published Articles in two separate issues of Gibson Guitar Magazine in regards
to the music business.
I spoke at many different music conferences from Atlanta to St. Louis and more.
Vice-President/Director: American Resource Network, Inc. Nashville, TN 1995
–1998 Handled contract negotiations, raised investment capital, assisted with
marketing, and participated in the day-to-day operations of this company that
was involved in Telecommunications and Investment Banking in Moscow, C.I.S. of
Russia, Kyrghystan, C.I.S. of Russia, as well as Frankfurt, Germany. Oversaw the
negotiations for obtaining the licenses and frequencies to government owned
satellites for mobile telecommunications, paging and static digital
telecommunications with Com-Ex a Kyrgyz corporation that was the Russian
Counterpart of A.R.N., Inc.
President, Director, Shareholder: Dragon Acoustics, Inc., Nashville, TN
1993-1995
Developed a near field live reference monitoring system for drummers with other
related applications. This system was designed to cut down on stage volume and
increase the ability of the drummer to control what is heard on stage and
further limiting feedback problems created by most monitoring systems. Our
monitors were entirely unique in the music industry. We signed product
endorsements with Fred Satterfield of the Oak Ridge Boys and Donny Wynn of
Brooks & Dunn. I assisted with the purchasing, marketing, distribution and
oversaw all facets of production as well as the day-to-day operations.
President, Director, Shareholder: Online Multimedia, Inc., Nashville, TN
1991-1993
Prior to the proliferation of the World Wide Web, Online Multimedia partnered
with the now defunct CompuServe (Swallowed unceremoniously by AOL/Time Warner)
and brokered fan based information for the music industry, hosted the first
on-line chats with major recording artists such as Warren Zevon, Lou Reed, Bob
Welch, and Thomas Dolby, as well as setting up the first music downloads on the
Internet. We brokered the first full release by a major recording artist on the
Internet before any radio release with the band Aerosmith. Unfortunately, due to
technology restraints at the time, we were limited to PK.ZIP for compression and
at best 14.4-28.8 KPbs for transmission through CompuServe music forums which
works out to approximately a 7-hour or more download for around 3 minutes of
music.
Owner/Operator New South Productions and New South Records 1981-1989
Handled Booking, Promotions, Distribution, Marketing, and Production of a small
independent record label and production company that catered to college radio
and the college market. We also offered live sound and lighting, equipment
rental and 24/7 on call equipment/parts delivery service. We offered guitar
strings, drumheads, cables, fuses, amps, microphones, etc., (All Peavey Sound
Gear!) with FREE delivery service to any venue at ANY time at a very
unreasonable price. We opened the commercial recording studio in 1983 where I
engineered and/or produced a number of EP’s and LP’s for a wide variety of local
and regional artists in Oxford, MS. The studio was closed in 1986 when I moved
to Austin, TX.
Professional Musician 1977-to present. Toured and played both solo and with
Steve Moore & The New South, an alternative rock band based in Oxford, MS.
Toured extensively as a sideman and opening act with Keith Sykes of
Backstreet/MCA Records as well as Memphis Records and many others. Recorded my
first full E.P. at Ardent Studios, Memphis, TN in 1984. Spent a year in Austin,
TX (1986-7) as a sideman, songwriter, and solo artist before returning to MS to
tour regionally. I continued to work full-time as a musician and in the music
business with New South Productions as I attended law school. I begain to play
music live again upon my return to Meridian to be closer to my family...but plan
to return to practicing law soon.
